Locking Keys

  • Locking keys prevent the bracket from becoming dislodged from the wall standard.
  • Your key is correctly in place when it fits into the slot at the top of the bracket, the narrow curved edge is at the top (Fail safe: When the key fits you can be sure the bracket is tapped down correctly).
  • Replacement locking keys may be purchased in the online store.

Lost Parts

replacement parts may be purchased in the online store, whatever your needs.

Measuring, For a Project

  • (1) Assess your needs by establishing # of wall standards (vertical support bars) to be used. (2) The length of each bar.
  • Total the # of vertical feet per stud, to be covered.
  • Purchase cover packs accordingly for each vertical measurement; Note: A 4' bar cannot be covered by two 2' bar kits.

Modifying Bars

  • By cutting standards and drilling a fixation hole, when necessary, you can get any desired height from one shelf up.
  • By placing a wall standard vertically on top of another, you can go ceiling to floor and any length in between.

Moving

  • Wallperfect is a great option over bulky bookcases and furniture when your lifestyle calls for multiple moves.
  • See ‘moving instructions' on our installation page for tips on removing your system for a move.

Retrofit

  • Wallperfect is perfect for beautifying and stabilizing previous installations of single vertical slot wall standards
  • Measure the length of each wall standard and purchase the cover packages to complete the job.
  • Raw wood will not adhere to the tape. At least a 1" strip, that will contact each tape, should be painted on the bottom of shelves for proper adhesion. Aluminum wall standards should not be used with wallperfect due to lack of strength and fit in them.

Shelf Depths

  • Standard depths 8"-16"
  • Desktop depths, 16"-20" use 3/4" plywood with or without laminate cover, with standards spaced 16" or less.
  • Important to note: The deeper the shelf, the less edge loading the standard will support; the more standards the greater the strength.
  • Desktops installed as a corner unit with 2 sides supported by wallperfect brackets are incredibly stable (due to plate structure).

Shelving Materials

WallPerfect recommends the following:

  • Custom-made shelves, available from kitchen counter Top Shops or DIY Centers
  • Ready-made laminate c. wood or plywood (3/4" ply is a must for shelf depths between 16" - 20" deep)
  • Do NOT use unfinished wood; the acrylic tape will not adhere to raw wood or oil finishes. (Where retrofitting an unfinished wood system, at least a 1" strip, that will contact each tape, should be painted on the bottom of shelves for proper adhesion.)

Shelf Thicknesses

  • Standard shelf thicknesses of 5/8" and 3/4"
  • Up to 3/4" plywood or other hardwood.
  • Maximum thickness 13/16" finished shelf.

Shims

  • Shims are ready made in 2 sizes to fit either gap of 5/8" shelf or 3/4" shelf.
  • Shims should fit very tightly between shelf and bracket casing.
  • Too loose, apply layers of Scotch® tape to bottom of shim, trimming excess.
  • Too tight to slide in with paintstick or other tool; use emory board or sandpaper to lightly sand bottom until fit is snug.

Spacing, Wall Standards

  • 16" (or less if your studs are irregularly placed) for ready- made laminate shelving and for desk surfaces.
  • Up to 24" for finished, laminated wood or plywood.
  • The preferred installation is into wall studs.
  • Always use the appropriate wall anchors/toggles where a stud is not available.
  • Note: the closer together the wall standards, the more weight your shelf can hold.

Spacing, Brackets

  • Wallperfect's flexibility allows you to place brackets as close as 6" from bracket shelf to bracket shelf (perfect for CD's), or as far apart as your design call's for.
  • Spanning distances of greater than 20" requires the use of the connector piece.
  • The wall standard may be cut to allow uncovered areas of wall (to accomodate plasma t.v.'s, pictures, or even windows), simply resume wallperfect above and below.

Tape, 3M Double Sided Removable

  • A component of the Integrated Stability System, it holds the shelf to the bracket.
  • Remove second paper before placing shelf on tape.
  • Shelf should be in final position before setting on tape, but can be adjusted if neccessary.
  • Raw wood will not adhere to the tape. At least a 1" strip that will contact each tape should be painted on the shelves for proper adhesion. remove one paper and apply to bracket arm.
  • Repeat for all brackets. (For best adhesion, clean bracket arm and shelf with alcohol before application.)

Tape, Replacement Strips

  • The special double sided 3M tape is integral to our systems stability.
  • There is no good substitute for the tape chosen for our system.
  • Replacement tape is sold online in 4 packs so that you can always move your system when you have to move and trust it will be as safe as the day you bought it!

Toggles

  • Attach to stud: use appropriate wood screws
  • Attach to drywall: wallperfect recommends the type of hollow wall anchor that has a back-of-the-wall component that opens behind the dry wall, as the support brackets are designed to push against the wall for additional stability
  • Attach to concrete: use appropriate concrete anchors d. recommended toggles may be purchased in the online store.

Top Cap

  • A 12.5" molded plastic cover, open on one end.
  • Designed to be both cap and cover, with one cut.
  • Hand cutting allows you the flexibility of bracket placement.
  • The closed angled end will always be the ‘top' on the wall standard
  • When 2' bar is used, the recommended cut length is -----" from the open end.

Wall Standard Cover

  • A 15 1/2" molded plastic cover, open on each end.
  • May be used as one long piece, or cut to facilitate short distances between brackets.

Wall Standards

  • Single vertical slot wall standards or support bars to be used with the wallperfect system.
  • Lengths vary by manufacturers; sold in 2', 3', 4', and 6' usually. (note a "3'" by one manufacturer may actually be 35")
  • Standards may be cut into custom lengths to shorten or stack; be sure to drill additional screw holes when necessary if using this technique for design.
